MAESTRO MEZCALERO JOSÉ VALENTE PÉREZ

“…mezcal represents the culture of my ancestors, my great-grandparents, my grandfather, my father. The liquid culture of Mexico. I think we bring it well captured and we are making it known to the world.”

At La Chareñita, we honor our roots in the heart of Michoacán. Our brand is made in the municipality of Charo, in the town of Pie de La Mesa, where the boundaries between the mountains and the hot land meet. This privileged location allows our agaves to absorb the unique flavors of our land and the spring water that nourishes each plant.

Our maestro mezcalero, Don José Valente Pérez, represents the fourth generation of a family dedicated to the art of mezcal. His legacy is a story of passion and commitment that has defended the quality of Michoacán mezcal, following in the footsteps of his father, who in 2015 was recognized as a “Cultural Treasure of Mezcal.”

Don Valente has received multiple awards for the excellence of his mezcals and is proudly part of the Union of Maestros Mezcaleros of the State of Michoacán, recognitions that reflect his dedication to artisanal mezcal and the preservation of our traditions.

In each bottle of La Chareñita, we carry not only a mezcal, but a history, passion and pride of a land that lives in every sip.
